Newfoundland and Labrador Lumber Producers’ Association

The Newfoundland and Labrador Lumber Producers’ Association (NLLPA) is a non-profit organization, CLSAB-accredited lumber grading agency, representing NL commercial sawmill operators and timber harvesters. Its members account for more than 70 per cent of lumber production in the province and directly employ more than 1,500 people. Incorporated in 1983, the NLLPA’s initial purpose was to seek accreditation to operate a grading agency. Today, the Association also actively promotes and facilitates the economic development and viability of the industry.

The March 5, 1984 Accreditation Agreement with NLLPA recognizes them to supervise and grade stamp for each of the following classes of accreditation:

  1. CLSAB has accredited NLLPA to supervise and grade stamp for each of the following classes of accreditation in accordance with CSA-O141 and ISO/IEC-17065:

    1. Visually Graded Lumber
      i. in accordance with CSA-O141 (May 23, 2023), CLSAB Regulations (October 23, 2024) and the NLGA Standard Grading Rules for Canadian Lumber (2025)
    2. Agency Certified Lumber
      i. in accordance with CSA-O141 (May 23, 2023), CLSAB Regulations (October 23, 2024) and the NLGA Standard Grading Rules for Canadian Lumber (2025)

  2. CLSAB has accredited NLLPA to supervise and mark for the following class of accreditation in accordance with CSA-O141 and the CFIA-CLSAB Agreement:
    1. Canadian Heat Treated Wood Products Certification Program
      1. in accordance with the CFIA-CLSAB Agreement (October 31, 2014)
