The Ontario Lumber Manufacturers' Agency (OLMA) is an independently owned agency offering lumber grading and/or grade stamping services to our licensed facilities and individuals. We are an accredited agency of the Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board (CLSAB) and the American Lumber Standard Committee, Inc. (ALSC), and a member of the National Lumber Grades Authority (NLGA).
The OLMA is accredited to supervise:
- visually graded lumber
- Machine-graded lumber (MSR)
- Fingerjoined lumber (FJ)
The OLMA's principal functions are:
Ontario Lumber Manufacturers' Agency
- To train and license individuals at our licensed mills to classify lumber in accordance with recognized grading rules.
- To authorize individual manufacturing facilities, to mark pieces of lumber with the OLMA facsimile stamp attesting to the quality of each piece, for market acceptance within North America and internationally, by conducting periodic surveillance audits with a system of lumber quality control.
- To mediate disputes between buyers and sellers of lumber products bearing the OLMA mark and others as requested.
