Alberta Forest Products Association

The Alberta Forest Products Association (AFPA) is a non-profit industry association representing most of the companies that manufacture lumber, panelboard, pulp and paper, and secondary manufactured wood products in Alberta. Established in 1942, the AFPA mandate grew in 1960 to ensure that lumber grading met rigid quality standards for markets in Canada and internationally. The AFPA is the primary lumber certification agency in Alberta, responsible for ensuring the quality control of each piece of stamped lumber originating from its members. In addition to grading standards, the AFPA operates or administers a number of programs and services on behalf of our members, including: health and safety, environmental affairs, forestry, FORESTCARE, promotion, education, public and government relations.
